  • Oil Painting

Despite the costs, smell, required expertise and the pain of cleaning up afterwards, oil paints remain one of the most flexible of media, lending itself to many techniques. Probably considered one of the hardest of media, probably due to the vast amount of technical information a person can digest on the subject, it is certainly one of the most fun and forgiving.
Art is about learning to see and possessing the discipline
for regular practice without innate talent.

  • Watercolour
Watercolor has long been a favored medium of many an artist, although many seek to delve straight in where angels fear to tread. Watercolors are arguably one of the hardest media to learn and control, although it's often the accidental nature of watercolors that give them their popularity.

  • Pencils (inc. color)

Pencils are usually where it all begins, and for many continues as a love or hate medium. Whether you're a dedicated pencil artist or eager to get stuck into painting, learning to draw and sketch with graphite or colored pencils is a must to an artist's personal development. In this section we have a fantastic collection of free drawing tutorials to inspire you to a surprisingly neglected, yet cheap and beautiful media.

StillLife

Still life on painting
A still life is a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which may be either natural (food, flowers, plants, rocks, or shells) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, and so on) in an artificial setting.
